My poor sweet baby :(

Ok so we got to Urgent Care and all of a sudden she has to throw up. (we went in for a fever of 103.3 and a headache for the past 2 1/2 days) So add that to her symptoms.

They asked a few questions, tested for Strep, came back negative, tested for Flu, came back negative. Tested her urine- Kidney Infection! She's 6! They started her on an aggresive treatment, starting with shots in both of her legs. I just wanted to cry right along with her. Poor thing couldn't walk or feel her legs basically for a few hours. We just had to carry her around. (Dr. said that would probably happen) She wanted to send her to Primary Children's Hospital, but said if we could keep her hydrated and check back in tomorrow around the same time, she'd let her go home.

She is not herself. She's just this sad little hurt girl. She's crashed out on my bed now.

Sorry, low quality phone pics.. blown up.

Here she is on the 2nd day back at Urgent care.

She had perked up for a bit... until they gave her the shots again.

  2. THat's so sad!! But just so you know, my oldest was born with a condition called "Ureteral Reflux". It's basically a plumbing issue related to the bladder, ureters (which connect the bladder and kidneys), and the kidneys. She was getting UTI's frequently first one at 2-3 weeks and the next one at 6 weeks old, two days after her baby blessing. That one was scary because she started having a seizure because her temperature rose to high too quickly... needless to say we ended up in the ER.

She got tested at Primary's for this condition, that the pediatrician we were using had just attended a seminar about. He referred us, and low and behold she has this on both sides and both a grade 5. (Which is the most severe case it can possibly be).

So if your little girl has had issues with constant UTI's... keep that in mind and maybe check into it just to rule that out.

Hope she feels better soon!!! That is a sad day when they are so sick and you can't really do anything to help them.

  3. Aww. I hope she feels better soon.
I HATE it when the kids are sick and there is nothing you can do.
At least you can have some comfort if it get s too bad you can always request a blessing on her behalf.
I do hope she feels better. That's NO fun at all!

  5. We went back and her urine looked tons better and her fever finally went down. She did have to get the shots again though.

We don't know yet if she has any other issues. Her pants never fit her right, they're either too tight or show her butt or both.

If anything like this happens again, we'll be sent to a urologist.

She's doing better today. But she gags on that darn amoxycillin. It will be a long 2 weeks with giving her that twice a day.

In the meantime, I have a fun bacterial infection going on and my other daughter has a sore throat and nasty cought. No fun for girls around this house. lately
