Just one of the reasons I love home-schooling. Not only can I learn along with the kids, but learning can happen any day, any time.
I love it even more, when my husband gets involved. This was a little experiment we found in a book that my 6 year old got at the library about electricity.
How cool! My mom home schooled all 4 of us kids (the youngest is finishing up his last year now!). My first time stopping by, but it looks like you've got a great blog! Can't wait to read some more!

Okay, I am loving your blog. It is chuck full of awesomeness! I love to teach and sub part-time because of my health.
ReplyDeleteI also volunteer a lot. I look at what my happens in the schools and feel I could teach him the info. in 2 hours. However, I do love the fact that he can get the social environment and learn real world applications dealing with a school setting.
Right now his school is ability grouping. (tracking in a newly revised name). My son is above average but placed in the Pace class. He's a leader and outgoing, but in that class he is very quiet because the strong personalities and smarty pants dominate everything. The teacher panders to the bright students and then lets the other kids fend for themselves. I've witnessed my son's grades drop. It has affected his confidence. And to top it off- his friends in the "low" classes are getting A's. So my son, who is above their intelligence level is getting a lower grades because it is weighted. He's only in 3rd grade!!!!
To top it off, I was asked by the teacher to not come volunteer because she found out that I disagreed with the ability program that they initiated, despite parent protests,
and wrote letters to the board. What are your thoughts?
I do teach him a lot when he gets home, but I feel he needs to go play and have "unstructured" time to develop as well.
Sigh. A mothers dilemmas!
Oh I feel so bad that it took me so long to see your replies on here. Sorry!!! Thank you so much for stopping by and for your lovely, sweet comments. I just checked out your blog and I love it!
